Pretty close to it in the first round of the 2010 US Open. Not only does Federer retrieve the lob from well behind the baseline, but he hits a winner with great pace. I'd say this one is even better than the gem he hit at last year's US Open, which they also show in this clip.
What's the big deal? He hit a ball, running away from the court, backwards, thru his legs, without really looking and placed it where the competitor wasn't, and in play for the point. We're supposed to be impressed? :)
ReplyDeleteHah, yah. Federer makes it look so easy that it's just another day at the office. Most of us struggle just to get back to the baseline to get the lob.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd say this one is better than last year because he's a good five feet farther in back of the baseline.
